Dubai RTA Introduces Smart Assessment System For Cycling And E-Scooter Tracks
|The system can evaluate 120 km of bicycle routes in just four hours
The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) of Dubai has introduced the Smart Assessment System for Cycling and E-Scooter Tracks and their assets. The system utilises cameras and sensors with advanced technology, mounted on an electric bicycle, enabling precise analysis and performance evaluation of tracks without disrupting user movement.
The latest system enables proactive track assessments and supports predictive and sustainable maintenance, improving resource management efficiency and promoting financial and environmental sustainability by reducing operational costs and emergency maintenance requirements. Compared to conventional inspection methods, which cover only 2.25 km each day, the system can evaluate 120 km of bicycle routes in just four hours, which represents a 98% improvement in speed.
The smart assessment system has the capacity to perform a comprehensive analysis and evaluation of track conditions and assets across 557 km within a month. The initiative is part of RTA’s ongoing efforts to strengthen services and develop a sustainable infrastructure that supports the transition to eco-friendly mobility solutions.
