Pep Guardiola had signed a new two-year contract extension with the club last week.

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola says that he has avoided the sack at Manchester City amid the club's six-game winless run because eight years of success there have given him a “margin.” Notably, Pep Guardiola had signed a new two-year contract extension with the club last week. Manchester City is set to face Liverpool on Sunday after losing five consecutive matches in all competitions and tossing away a 3-0 lead to draw with Feyenoord in the Champions League on Tuesday.

"At this football club you have to win and if you don't win, you will be in trouble. I know the people say why is Pep not in trouble, why is Pep not sacked? What we have done the last eight years is why I have this margin," said Guardiola, as quoted by Goal. "What's for sure I want to stay. I want to do it. But the moment I feel I am not positive for the club another one will come. It has to be," the 53-year-old Spaniard added.

"It's easy when you are 10, 12 games in a row, everyone is fit and everyone is in their prime and everyone is 26, 27, 28. Everything is going well. That is easy. Now, no. I have to prove myself now," said Guardiola. It is worth mentioning that the draw with Feyenoord was the first time in Pep Guardiola’s 942 games as a manager that his side has surrendered a three-goal lead. Meanwhile, during his time in Manchester, Guardiola has helped the club become just the second English men's team to win the Treble - the Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League in the same season.
