RIYADH: The first day of Ramadan in Saudi Arabia will commence on Monday, following the sighting of the crescent moon on Sunday evening. This auspicious occasion marks the beginning of a month-long period of fasting, reflection, and community for Muslims.

Ramadan, the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, is a time when devout Muslims observe fasting from dawn to sunset, refraining from consuming food and drink. It is a sacred period for introspection, self-discipline, and spiritual growth.

During this holy month, Muslims engage in increased recitation of the Qur'an, offering additional prayers known as taraweeh, and striving to increase their acts of kindness and charity. Communities come together for iftar, the evening meal that breaks the fast, fostering a sense of unity and togetherness.

Ramadan serves as a reminder of the importance of self-reflection, gratitude, and compassion towards others. It is an opportunity for Muslims to deepen their connection with their faith, seek forgiveness, and strengthen their relationship with Allah.

As the start of Ramadan is officially announced, mosques throughout Saudi Arabia will be filled with worshippers engaging in spiritual practices throughout the month. The holy month holds significant cultural and religious importance in the hearts of Muslims around the world.
