EPFO (The Employees' Provident Fund Organisation) will soon simplify EPF withdrawals with the launch of a new mobile app, which will allow its members to withdraw eligible PF amounts using UPI (Unified Payments Interface). Currently, EPFO members must submit a withdrawal request, which can take several days to get approved. The new auto-settlement mode will clear eligible claims digitally within three days. The upcoming app is expected to boost accessibility and strengthen service delivery for subscribers and is scheduled to be launched by April 2026.

Even with this system in place, the entire amount cannot be withdrawn. According to the new labour code laws, a minimum of 25 percent of the total amount will be locked. Account holders can withdraw funds according to their needs from the remaining balance. Through this app, users will also be able to view their passbook balance. Additionally, the auto-settlement limit has been increased to Rs 5 lakh from the earlier Rs 1 lakh.

Through ’EPFO 3.0’, the third phase of EPFO reforms, this service will become fully functional. EPF-related services are currently provided to members through the UAN portal and the UMANG app. These platforms will remain active, while the upcoming app is expected to further improve service for subscribers.

With nearly 8 crore subscribers, EPFO had introduced the online auto-settlement facility for advance claims during the COVID-19 crisis to provide quick relief to those under financial pressure. Despite this, EPF funds can only be accessed after submitting a claim. The new system, scheduled to launch in April, is intended to make the withdrawal process easier for subscribers.
