Former US President Joe Biden has been diagnosed with prostate cancer. Biden's office said in a statement on Sunday that the disease had spread to the bone. The finding came after Biden reported urinary symptoms, which led doctors to discover a nodule on his prostate. Meanwhile, world leaders sent the 82-year-old their wishes for his recovery.

"On Friday, he was diagnosed with prostate cancer, characterised by a Gleason score of 9 (Grade Group 5) with metastasis to the bone. While this represents a more aggressive form of the disease, the cancer appears to be hormone-sensitive which allows for effective management," the statement said. The official statement also added that Biden and his family “are reviewing treatment options with his physicians.” Joe Biden's physical condition was subject to scrutiny throughout his 2021-2025 US presidency.

US President Donald Trump said on social media that he was saddened by the news and that he “wish Joe a fast and successful recovery”. Former Vice President Kamala Harris also wished Biden a speedy recovery. "Joe is a fighter — and I know he will face this challenge with the same strength, resilience, and optimism that have always defined his life and leadership. We are hopeful for a full and speedy recovery," Kamala Harris wrote in a post on X.
