Qatar Airways Strikes Deal For 160 Boeing Jets

The deal includes 130 787 Dreamliners and 30 777-9 aircraft

Qatar Airways announced that the carrier has placed the largest aircraft order in its history with Boeing. This order comprises up to 210 Boeing widebody jets, with 160 firm orders and options for 50 more. The deal came during US President Donald Trump’s visit to Qatar as part of his tour of the Gulf region.

In a statement released on May 14, the airline said that it is the largest widebody order and the largest 787 Dreamliner order in Boeing's history. The deal includes 130 787 Dreamliners and 30 777-9 aircraft. There are also options for an additional 50 787 and 777X airplanes. The airline has also signed an agreement with GE Aerospace for more than 400 engines, including 60 GE9X and 260 GEnx engines.

According to the White House, Donald Trump also announced economic deals totalling more than $243.5 billion between the United States and Qatar. The White House also mentioned that the agreement between Qatar Airways and Boeing will support 154,000 US jobs annually, totalling over 1 million jobs in the US during the course of production and delivery of this deal.
