Abu Dhabi Police has regulated the use of cameras in the duties of its personnel, covering the operation of cameras, preservation and handling of recordings, and the maintaining of confidentiality and non-disclosure. The move is in line with its strategic vision to enhance safety and security.

The step permits personnel to operate recordings in public and in private places during legally authorised search and arrest missions, reported Abu Dhabi Media Office. The camera will be placed in clear sight on military uniform or civil attire, so that it is visible to members of the public. Additionally, detainees will be informed when recordings are taking place to ensure full transparency during any interaction.

To preserve the integrity of recordings, Abu Dhabi Police will employ secure storage methods to prevent tampering or unauthorised alterations. Also, personnel will not publish or share recordings except for official work purposes and with prior approvals from relevant authorities.
