Dubai RTA Announces Expansion Of Burj Khalifa-Dubai Mall Metro Station

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced the expansion of Burj Khalifa/Dubai Mall Metro Station. The project aims to boost passenger capacity by 65%, enabling the station to serve up to 220,000 daily passengers upon completion. It aims to increase hourly capacity from 7,250 to 12,320 passengers.

Apart from the expansion of the station’s area from 6,700 to 8,500 square metres, the project also included provisions for improving entrances and pedestrian bridges to facilitate access. To improve passenger movement, the project will add more escalators and elevators and separate the entry and exit gates. According to Mattar Al Tayer, Director General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of RTA, the expansion project responds to sustained and rising demand for metro services, with projections extending to 2040.
