Dubai RTA Deploys Drones To Clean Metro Stations
This drone-based approach requires only 8 personnel, leading to a manpower reduction exceeding 50%.

Dubai RTA has launched a significant initiative deploying drone technology to clean the facades of Dubai metro and tram stations. This step, in cooperation with Keolis MHI, drastically reduces the need for cleaning staff, which typically involved up to 15 people per station.
This drone-based approach requires only 8 personnel, leading to a manpower reduction exceeding 50% and mitigating risks associated with working at height or in complex access areas. Mohammed Al Ameeri, Director of Maintenance at RTA’s Rail Agency, said that the initiative reflects RTA’s dedication to innovative technologies that improve safety, optimise resources, and align with Dubai’s sustainability goals. “Drones reduce the need for workers to be exposed to high-risk areas while using less water per station, which is a meaningful contribution to our environmental strategy," Mohammed Al Ameeri added.
