Elon Musk Floats New Political Party
Musk contributed nearly $300 million to Trump's 2024 presidential campaign.

This week saw a dramatic public falling-out between US President Donald Trump and Elon Musk. Amid this, the tech billionaire posted a poll on X asking his followers whether it was time to create a new political party in America that “actually represents the 80% in the middle”. The post has attracted 5.6 million votes, with 80.4% in favour.
Elon Musk's social media post suggests that he might support a candidate who challenges the Democrat-Republican two-party system in the US. Musk contributed nearly $300 million to Trump's 2024 presidential campaign. At the same time, the billionaire said recently that he intends to do "a lot less" spending in the future.
Trump said on Thursday that he was "disappointed" by Musk's criticisms of his spending bill. The US president also threatened to cancel Musk's government contracts. Meanwhile, Trump is considering selling a red Tesla he got in March. Trump acquired the electric vehicle as a gesture of support for Musk-owned Tesla. A White House official told NBC News that the president has not made a final decision on what to do with his Tesla.
