Elon Musk Launches ‘America Party’

In a move that could reshape the American political landscape, Elon Musk, the world's richest person and CEO of Tesla, has announced the formation of a new political party, "America Party." Declaring his intent to challenge the United States' "one-party system," Musk revealed the initiative on Saturday through his social media X.

"When it comes to bankrupting our country with waste & graft, we live in a one-party system, not a democracy. Today, the America Party is formed to give you back your freedom," Musk posted. The announcement followed a poll he conducted on Friday, asking his followers whether they supported independence from the two-party or uniparty system that has dominated the US for over two years. The poll drew over 1.2 million responses, with a two-to-one majority in favor of establishing a new political party.

The formation of the party appears to be a direct consequence of Musk's ongoing feud with US President Donald Trump. Tensions escalated after Musk resigned from his role as head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). The disagreement further intensified over Trump's newly signed "big, beautiful bill," which included huge tax cuts and domestic spending estimated to add $3.3 trillion to the federal deficit over the next decade. In response to Musk's criticism, Trump reportedly threatened to deport him to South Africa.
