Everything To Know About The High-Speed Train Project Linking Abu Dhabi And Dubai

Etihad Rail has announced the new high-speed train project linking Abu Dhabi and Dubai in an official ceremony organised at Al Faya Depot. This major project will enable seamless connectivity between the two emirates, significantly reducing travel times. The main highlight is that the train will enable individuals to travel between Abu Dhabi and Dubai in just 30 minutes, reaching speeds of up to 350 km/h.

This train will pass through six stations, including Reem Island, Saadiyat, Yas Island, and Zayed International Airport in Abu Dhabi, as well as near Al Maktoum International Airport and the Al Jaddaf area in Dubai. Etihad Rail will oversee the development and operation of the project, which is expected to contribute AED145 billion to the country's GDP over the next five decades.

According to the Dubai Media Office, development of the high-speed train project has progressed with the issuance of tenders for project contracts and the approval of network designs. Subsequent phases of the project will be developed in the coming years, paving the way for its final completion. On the other hand, the ceremony also witnessed the announcement of the first four passenger rail stations in the UAE. These strategically located stations in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, and Fujairah are expected to improve access to rail services.
