Meta-owned Instagram has announced the rollout of new user-focused features aimed at enhancing creative expression and offering more control over content visibility. Among the key updates is a much-requested grid customisation tool, allowing users to rearrange the layout of posts on their profile, moving away from the usual chronological format. This change enables the users to quietly showcase selected content on their profile without pushing it to their followers' main feeds.

Previously, users could only pin down selected posts on the top of their profile grid. Also, the reels experiment that permitted some creators to test their videos on new audiences before sharing them with followers is now accessible to all users. According to Meta, after using Trial Reels, 40% of the creators began posting reels more frequently, and 80% of those saw increased views from non-followers.

In addition, Instagram is now integrating Spotify Streaming into Instagram Notes, allowing users to share music directly within the feature. This integration went live on Thursday, with grid customisation expected to launch next week. Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri emphasised that the platform aims to reduce the pressure of public posting. “Creative expression can feel intimidating, especially when posting something to feed,” he stated in a blog post. The company also announced a new initiative called Drafts, which will support creators through funding, collaboration opportunities, and platform tools for co-ideation and growth.
