Liverpool Fans' Premier League Title Celebrations Caused Earth Tremor: Report
Alexis Mac Allister’s long-range strike in the 24th minute caused a tremor that peaked at 1.74 on the Richter scale.

Liverpool secured the Premier League title on Sunday, April 27, with a decisive 5-1 victory over Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield. Scientists have reportedly revealed that the celebration of the 60,000-capacity crowd at Anfield caused a series of tremors. Liverpool club, in collaboration with the University of Liverpool, had installed a seismometer in the Main Stand.
According to a BBC report, Alexis Mac Allister’s long-range strike in the 24th minute caused a tremor that peaked at 1.74 on the Richter scale. The data revealed that the reaction to goals during the game was so powerful that it shook the ground. When Mohamed Salah netted Liverpool's fourth goal, the 60,000 fans produced a tremor of 1.60, while Cody Gakpo's third goal resulted in a tremor of 1.03 on the Richter scale.
"Much like natural seismic events, these goals produced bursts of ground-shaking, triggered by the sheer passion of Liverpool fans," Professor Ben Edwards from the university's Department of Earth, Ocean and Environmental Sciences said.
