OpenAI To Launch AI-Powered Hiring Platform To Rival LinkedIn
OpenAI also stated that it plans to introduce certification programs through its 'OpenAI Academy'

OpenAI has announced that it is developing an artificial intelligence-powered hiring platform designed to connect businesses with workers, positioning the company as a direct competitor to LinkedIn. The service, called the 'OpenAI Jobs Platform', is expected to launch by mid-2026, a company spokesperson told TechCrunch.
Fidji Simo, OpenAI’s CEO of Applications, said in a blog post that the platform would use AI to match companies’ needs with workers’ skills. She noted that the service would include dedicated tracks for small businesses and local governments seeking AI talent.
OpenAI CEO Sam Altman told reporters at a recent dinner that Simo would oversee a range of applications beyond ChatGPT, including the Jobs Platform and other projects reportedly in development, such as a browser and a social media app.
The initiative is expected to bring OpenAI into competition with LinkedIn, which is owned by Microsoft, OpenAI’s largest financial backer. LinkedIn has already added AI-driven features to help match job seekers with employers.
OpenAI also stated that it plans to introduce certification programs through its 'OpenAI Academy', which launched in 2024. A pilot program for 'OpenAI Certifications' is expected to begin in late 2025, with the company aiming to certify '10 million Americans in AI fluency by 2030'. The company said it is working with Walmart, one of the world’s largest private employers, on the certification effort.
The company added that these plans align with the White House’s AI literacy campaign, which is designed to help workers prepare for changes in the job market. Altman and other technology executives are scheduled to meet President Donald Trump at the White House to discuss the future of AI.
