Pantone Picks Cloud Dancer As 2026 Colour Of The Year
The institute describes it as having “a subtle, airy presence”.

Fashion is a form of self-expression, and colour plays a major role in shaping trends and reflecting cultural moments. Pantone, the global authority on colour, has announced “Cloud Dancer”, a soft, serene shade of white, as its 2026 Colour of the Year. The institute describes it as having “a subtle, airy presence”.
Leatrice Eiseman, Pantone’s executive director, said the shade is linked to “new beginnings” and reflects a desire for a fresh start. Pantone’s team studies cultural and style trends before narrowing down a colour family and selecting the final shade. Vice-president Laurie Pressman noted that the name is significant because it sparks an instant visual. She added that Cloud Dancer’s balanced cool and warm undertones were carefully chosen.
While white has long been a staple in fashion, Eiseman said Cloud Dancer captures the softness of flowing silhouettes and natural textures. The shade also extends into interior design. Last year’s pick was Mocha Mousse, a warm, mellow brown, and in 2024 Pantone chose Peach Fuzz, a calming fruity tone.
However, the 2026 selection has divided opinion. Some creatives feel choosing white is a safe, understated choice rather than a bold statement. Pantone stressed that Cloud Dancer represents a design-focused vision and a collective need for calm, with no connection to race, skin colour, or politics.
