Visitors to Riyadh’s parks and open spaces will soon notice a smarter kind of security. The municipality has started using a new “smart surveillance” system to keep public areas safe, protect community property, and ensure a more comfortable environment for everyone. Over 1,600 cameras now keep watch over Riyadh’s parks, creating a connected system that helps authorities spot and handle any issues faster and more efficiently.

Powered by artificial intelligence, the cameras constantly study what’s happening in real time, spotting anything unusual or unsafe so help can arrive fast. The system, directly linked to the municipality’s central monitoring rooms, keeps an eye out for things like medical emergencies, missing children, or gatherings that seem out of the ordinary. The initiative is part of a wider push by Riyadh Municipality to use smart technology to run the city more efficiently, strengthen its infrastructure, and offer better public services.
