Royal Jordanian Takes Flight: New Direct Route Connects Amman to Saudi Arabias Historical Gem, AlUla

Al-Ula International Airport in Al-Ula Governorate received the first flight of Royal Jordanian Airlines, which opened a new direct route from Amman, as Royal Jordanian intends to operate two flights per week between Queen Alia International Airport in Amman and Al-Ula International Airport, starting From February 16th.

The launch of the new flight route to AlUla reflects its heritage appeal and the interest it receives thanks to its rich heritage and diverse nature, in addition to the various events and activities that are held throughout the year.

The new route also constitutes a historical bridge that extends to a great era in which both regions witnessed the prosperity of the ancient Nabataean civilization, which left its traces firmly established to this day in both Petra in Jordan and Al-Hijr in Al-Ula, where the new trips provide history and culture lovers with an exploration of the ancient historical connection between the two regions and knowledge of the heritage. The ancient civilization shared between Petra and AlUla.

It is noteworthy that Saudi Arabian Airlines recently expanded flight routes to connect AlUla to Europe through direct flights from Paris to AlUla, with the return of its seasonal flight that took off on January 28, 2024, in addition to the launch of direct Gulf Air flights between Manama and AlUla, which operates two flights weekly. Until March 6, then from April 10 until April 27.

Direct flight options are also available to AlUla from Dubai, Doha, Cairo and various cities within the Kingdom.

This expansion of flight routes comes to play a role in accommodating the increasing numbers of visitors attracted by AlUla, which contributes to moving forward to achieve AlUla’s goal of welcoming two million visitors annually by 2035, which contributes to the sustainability of the destination for future generations while enhancing the quality of visitor experiences.
