Stormwater Drainage System: Dubai Municipality And Dubai South Sign AED 150 Million Agreement
The initiative aligns with the goals of the Dubai Economic Agenda D33

Dubai Municipality has entered into a strategic partnership agreement with Dubai South, committing AED 150 million toward the development of an advanced stormwater drainage system in Dubai South’s residential district. The initiative aligns with the goals of the Dubai Economic Agenda D33 and is part of the broader Tasreef project.
The agreement involves building a new secondary stormwater tunnel. This tunnel will link Dubai South's drainage network to Dubai Municipality's deep tunnel system via Expo Road. This connection will improve stormwater and surface runoff management, minimise flooding risks, and safeguard roads, buildings, and public assets, reported Dubai Media Office.
Meanwhile, Tasreef is a long-term stormwater drainage development programme led by Dubai Municipality, with an estimated value of AED 30 billion. The project will extend coverage to all areas of the emirate, increasing the network’s drainage capacity by 700 per cent to manage over 20 million cubic metres of water per day. It is scheduled for completion by 2033.
