Suresh Raina To Begin New Innings On Screen

Renowned for his on-field flair, Indian former cricketer and Chennai Super Kings star Suresh Raina is now set to bring his skill to the cinema screen. Fondly known as Mr. IPL and Chinna Thala, Raina will make his debut in an upcoming Tamil film centred on cricket, marking a new and unexpected chapter in his illustrious journey.

The yet-to-be-titled film is being directed by Logan and produced by Saravana Kumar under the Dream Knight Stories production. The project was announced by Raina through a social media post, stating, "Revealing a surprise tomorrow... Stay tuned." DKS is a newly launched production house, officially unveiled by CSK all-rounder Shivam Dube during an event held in Chennai on Friday.

Raina joined the launch virtually and expressed his excitement about the film. "I think DKS has a good director and first of all when the director told me the story, it was very close to us. Then being a cricket movie, it has to start from Tamil Nadu because we have been playing a lot of matches for CSK over the years and they have a lot of love, liking and a lot of affection," he shared.

Raina, former vice-captain of CSK, was the first Indian to score centuries in all three formats of international cricket. He retired from all forms of the game in 2022 and is remembered for his aggressive middle-order batting and off-spin bowling. However, this is not the first time a cricketer has entered the film industry. Players like Harbhajan Singh, Irfan Pathan, Shikhar Dhawan, and Sunil Gavaskar have also appeared on screen.
