UAE Announces Nationwide Study To Measure Food Loss And Waste
Nearly 3,000 participants will be part of the 18-month study

The UAE has launched the country’s first National Baseline Study to measure actual food loss and waste. This first-of-its-kind study represents a significant milestone in national efforts to halve food loss and waste by 2030. The findings of the study will be released during the first half of next year.
Nearly 3,000 participants will be part of the 18-month study, which will measure actual food loss and waste across the entire food value chain across all seven Emirates, reported Emirates News Agency. Insights from the study lay the foundation for systemic change and improve national efforts to ensure food security and sustainability. The data collected, through the participation of households, businesses, and public sector entities, will be analysed to develop national food loss and waste indices.
