UAE’s First Methanol Plant To Be Established In Al Dhafra Region
The plant will be developed in Al Ruwais Industrial City

Abu Dhabi’s TA’ZIZ has awarded a contract worth $1.7 billion to Samsung E&A for the construction of the UAE’s first methanol production facility. The plant will be developed in Al Ruwais Industrial City in the Al Dhafra region. This facility, one of the world’s largest, is set for completion in 2028.
The project is considered a major milestone in TA’ZIZ’s mission to advance the country's economic diversification by unlocking new domestic chemical value chains. Upon completion, the 1.8 million tons per annum (mtpa) plant will be powered by clean energy from the grid, making it one of the most energy-efficient methanol plants in the world.
According to Abu Dhabi media office report, TA'ZIZ will produce 4.7 mtpa of chemicals by 2028, including methanol, low-carbon ammonia, polyvinyl chloride (PVC), ethylene dichloride, and caustic soda in the initial phase.
