കറുത്ത വംശജനായ ജോര്ജ് ഫ്ലോയ്ഡിന്റെ വംശീയ കൊലപാതകത്തെ തുടര്ന്നുള്ള പ്രതിഷേധത്തില് പങ്കെടുത്ത 60 പ്രതിഷേധക്കാരെ പൊലീസില് നിന്നും രക്ഷിച്ച ഇന്ത്യക്കാരനാണ് ഇപ്പോള് സോഷ്യല് മീഡിയയില് ഹീറോ. ജോർജ് ഫ്ലോയ്ഡിനു നീതി തേടി വാഷിംഗ്ടണ് ഡിസിയിൽ നടന്ന പ്രതിഷേധ പ്രകടനത്തിനിടെയാണ് രാഹുൽ ദുബെ എന്ന ഇന്ത്യക്കാരന് സംരക്ഷനായി മാറിയത്.
കഴിഞ്ഞ ദിവസം വൈറ്റ് ഹൗസില് നിന്നും ആരംഭിച്ച പ്രതിഷേധ സമരത്തിന് നേരെ പൊലീസ് നടപടി ആരംഭിച്ചതോടെ ആളുകള് ചിതറിയോടുകയുണ്ടായി. തുടര്ന്ന് കര്ഫ്യൂ പ്രഖ്യാപിച്ച പൊലീസ് തെരുവ് അടക്കുകയും ടിയര് ഗ്യാസ് പ്രയോഗിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു. ഇതോടെ ഒറ്റപ്പെട്ട പ്രതിഷേധക്കാരെ അറസ്റ്റില് നിന്നും നിയമനടപടികളില് നിന്നും രക്ഷിക്കുന്നതിനായി രാഹുല് സ്വന്തം വീട് തുറന്നു കൊടുക്കുകയായിരുന്നു. പ്രതിഷേധക്കാര്ക്ക് മുഴുവന് വീടിനകത്ത് ഇടം ഒരുക്കിയ രാഹുല് ഇവര്ക്ക് ഭക്ഷണം ഒരുക്കി നല്കുകയും ചെയ്തു. പ്രതിഷേധക്കാരെ രക്ഷിക്കുന്നതിനിടെ പൊലീസ് വീടിന്റെ വാതില് വരെ ഓടിയെത്തിയതായി രാഹുല് പറയുന്നു. വീടിനകത്ത് മുറികളിലും ബാത്ത് ടബിലും വരെ പ്രതിഷേധക്കാര്ക്ക് താമസത്തിന് ഇടം നല്കിയതായി ട്വിറ്ററില് പോസ്റ്റ് ചെയ്ത കുറിപ്പില് വ്യക്തമാക്കുന്നു. രാഹുലിന്റെ വീടിനകത്ത് നിന്നുള്ള ഫോട്ടോകള് അതെ സമയം സോഷ്യല് മീഡിയയില് വൈറലാണ്.
