595 New Bus Shelters Ready Across Dubai
Some primary shelters have been designed with air-conditioned areas, shaded outdoor seating, and advertising spaces
Dubai RTA has completed 595 public bus shelters so far, as part of a larger plan to deliver a total of 762 shelters across key areas of the emirate. The newly designed shelters have a contemporary style, accommodate several bus routes per location, and handle more than 192 million passengers a year.
The RTA has categorised bus shelters into four types based on daily passenger numbers: primary stops serving over 750 passengers, secondary stops with 250–750, basic stops with 100–250, and boarding/alighting stops for fewer than 100 passengers each day. Some primary shelters have been designed with air-conditioned areas, shaded outdoor seating, and advertising spaces. They also include digital screens that display the bus network map, schedules, frequencies, and other important information for commuters.
