Instagram Launches New Feature To Control Reels Algorithm
To customise your Reels feed, tap the new icon, two lines with hearts, at the top right while browsing Reels.
We all know how Instagram seems to know what we like and sometimes shows us Reels we are not interested in. That’s the algorithm at work. Now, Meta is giving users more control with a new AI-based feature called “Your Algorithm”. It allows users to decide what they want to see in their Reels feed. Currently, it’s available to users in the US, with plans to roll it out to other countries soon.
To customise your Reels feed, tap the new icon, two lines with hearts, at the top right while browsing Reels. This opens a summary of topics based on your recent activity, including what you watch, like, share, or skip. You can choose what to see more or less of, tailoring your feed to your preferences. Users can also share their selected topics in Stories to show their followers their tastes. Meta says this update is just the beginning, with plans to expand similar controls to other parts of the app.
The feature comes after Australia introduced a restriction preventing those under 16 from accessing several popular social media platforms, including Instagram.
