After a series of scathing remarks, Musk withdraws from the political feud with US President Donald Trump. He has publicly apologised for his social posts made about Trump and Republican lawmakers. The apology follows a string of sharp criticism from Musk over a newly proposed bill, which he had previously called a "disgusting abomination" and warned the Republicans with a possible public backlash.

In a post on his platform X on Wednesday, Musk stated, "I regret some of my posts about President @realDonald Trump last week. They went too far." Tension between Musk and Trump has intensified following Musk's resignation from his role as a head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) - an advisory body for effective administration – due to his disagreements over the legislation.

The feud escalated when Musk claimed Trump's connection with Jeffrey Epstein, a convicted sex offender who died in federal custody. Though he did not provide much information, Musk's post read "mark this post for future, the truth will come out." However, the post was deleted within 24 hours, but not before it triggered a sharp backlash from Trump, who denied the claim.

Trump responded by hinting at "very serious consequences" for Musk if his unsubstantial criticism continued, including potential reviews of government contracts and subsidies linked to Musk's companies, such as Tesla and SpaceX. Following the fallout, Tesla's stock reportedly took a significant hit. Trump, however, appeared conciliatory after Musk's retraction. "I was really surprised that that happened. He went after a bill that’s phenomenal. I think he feels very badly that he said that, actually," Trump said during a press conference, adding that he held "no hard feelings".
