Donald Trump is all set to return to the White House. Trump will officially become the 47th president of the United States following an inauguration ceremony on January 20. Vice President-elect JD Vance will also take the oath of office on Monday. The official swearing-in ceremony will take place at 12 p.m. ET (1700 GMT).

The inauguration ceremony marks the conclusion of one president's time in office and the beginning of the successor's administration. The president-elect reciting the oath of office is the main highlight of the ceremony. Donald Trump and JD Vance will place their hand on a book - usually, but not always, a Bible - and recite the oath of office, according to the BBC. The 47th president will then outline his objectives for the next four years in his inaugural address. Trump is expected to talk about various policy initiatives he has pledged to enact immediately upon taking office.

The Republican leader will afterwards head to the President's Room to sign key documents. Next up for Donald Trump is a lunch organised by the Joint Congressional Committee on Inaugural Ceremonies. Traditionally, the inauguration proceedings are held outside the US Capitol.
