From Bill Gates To Elon Musk: What The Latest Epstein Files Reveal
X

Last week, the US Justice Department made public a massive set of documents linked to Jeffrey Epstein. The release reveals new details about how the millionaire financier and sex offender stayed in touch with some of the most influential and well-connected figures in America and beyond, including Elon Musk, Bill Gates and US Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick. Around three million pages, along with about 180,000 photos and roughly 2,000 videos, were made available to the public on January 30.

SpaceX and Tesla founder Elon Musk’s name shows up repeatedly in the documents. Most of the references are from media reports, but there are also a handful of private emails. One exchange, dated between the end of 2013 and early 2014, suggests Epstein and an account labelled “Elon Musk” were talking about a potential holiday trip to Epstein’s estate. The records also point to a series of meetups that were talked about during the 2012–2014 period. These included things like trips to the island, shared meals, and even possible visits to SpaceX, although it’s unclear whether any of these plans were ever carried out. Musk has said before that he was never on Epstein’s island.

According to multiple reports, draft emails linked to Epstein from 2013 also mention Bill Gates. Those messages make claims about the Microsoft co-founder's private life and hint at efforts to keep things out of the public eye. Gates’ office has strongly rejected the allegations, saying they are entirely false and have no basis in reality.

CNN reports that the documents mention US president Donald Trump over a thousand times. Some references include unverified sexual assault claims and new accounts from Epstein’s victims about their encounters with him. The records also contain a list of these allegations, put together by FBI officials last year. Trump has denied any involvement in wrongdoing related to Epstein. When asked for comment, the White House pointed to a Justice Department statement saying that some of the materials released “could include false or misleading images, documents, or videos.”

The files also show emails suggesting that Trump’s Commerce Secretary, Howard Lutnick, planned a trip to Epstein’s island in December 2012. One message, sent from Epstein’s assistant to Lutnick, seems to confirm they did meet around that time. In October 2025, Lutnick described Epstein as “the greatest blackmailer ever” and said he had cut ties with him years earlier.

The big question remains: have all of Epstein’s files truly been made public? With concerns that the Justice Department may still be holding back millions of documents and criticism over missed deadlines under the Epstein Files Transparency Act, the matter is far from settled. For now, the situation isn’t over, and more revelations could still emerge.
