Riyadh: The General Department of Traffic has issued a stern warning regarding the serious violation of traffic regulations known as speed dodging. Violators will face fines ranging between SR3,000 and SR6,000.

In an official statement released on its official account, the department emphasized that speed dodging among vehicles is a hazardous practice that can lead to loss of control and sudden accidents. Recognizing the severity of this offense, the department has implemented strict penalties to deter such behavior.

Speed dodging is considered a serious traffic violation and can result in eight logged points on the driver's license. The existing maximum fine for this offense stands at SR3,000. However, penalties extend beyond monetary fines and may include suspension of the offending driver's license for up to 30 days or even a maximum three-month jail term.

Speed dodging refers to maneuvers where drivers accelerate recklessly in order to pass other vehicles in dangerous ways. This can involve weaving through traffic lanes, tailgating other vehicles closely or passing on the shoulder.

The dangers associated with speed dodging are significant as it increases the risk of accidents. When drivers engage in such behavior, they often lack sufficient time to react appropriately to changes in traffic conditions. This heightened risk can lead to collisions resulting in severe injuries or even fatalities.

The General Department of Traffic urges all motorists to adhere strictly to traffic regulations and avoid engaging in speed dodging practices. By doing so, individuals contribute not only towards their own safety but also towards creating safer road environments for all road users.

Law enforcement agencies will be actively monitoring roads and enforcing penalties against those found guilty of speed dodging violations. It is essential for everyone on the roadways to prioritize safety by driving responsibly and respecting traffic laws at all times.
