US Halts All Military Aid To Ukraine

The Donald Trump-led US administration has paused all military aid to Ukraine. The crucial decision comes days after Trump's clash with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky during an Oval Office meeting. Trump's latest directive will reportedly affect deliveries of ammunition, vehicles, and other equipment, including shipments agreed to when Joe Biden was president.

“We are pausing and reviewing our aid to ensure that it is contributing to a solution," an unnamed White House official was quoted as saying by multiple outlets. Notably, the temporary suspension order will take effect immediately. The White House or Ukraine has not made any official comment on this matter.

According to the nonpartisan Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget, the US Congress has approved $175 billion in total assistance for Ukraine since the Russian invasion, reported Reuters. Apart from the military portion, US assistance to Ukraine also includes budgetary assistance, largely delivered through a World Bank trust fund, and other funds that had been delivered through the US Agency for International Development. The US made the latest move as most of the largest European nations have pledged to step up aid to Ukraine in recent days.
