12 Tonnes Of KitKats Go Missing In Europe; Nestle Investigates
There is also a chance the missing bars could turn up through unofficial sellers across Europe.
Losing 12 tonnes of chocolate isn’t something you hear every day. But that’s what Nestlé is facing this week after a huge batch of KitKats went missing. The truck, loaded with over four lakh bars from a new KitKat range, rolled out of a factory in central Italy and was bound for Poland. But somewhere along the way, it disappeared. The chocolate bars were to be distributed throughout Europe.
Nestlé says teams are trying to track down what went wrong, working alongside local authorities and partners. There’s also a chance the missing bars could turn up through unofficial sellers across Europe. Nestlé says the bars aren’t completely untraceable. Each one carries a unique code, so if they do show up somewhere, they can be tracked back pretty easily. The KitKat team joked that the thieves clearly have good taste but pointed out that these missing shipments are becoming a massive headache for businesses everywhere.
