Abu Dhabi To Host European Film Festival From May 12–16

Ten distinct European films will be screened at the festival, presented by the embassies and cultural institutes of EU member states

The European Union Delegation to the United Arab Emirates, in partnership with the Cultural Foundation in Abu Dhabi, is all set to conduct the European Film Festival in Abu Dhabi. The major event, which will be held from May 12 to 16, aims to enhance cultural relations and exchange between the United Arab Emirates and European Union countries through cinema.

Ten distinct European films will be screened at the festival, presented by the embassies and cultural institutes of EU member states, including the Czech Republic, Estonia, France, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Slovenia, and Sweden. The screenings will take place at the theatre of the Cultural Foundation in Abu Dhabi. Notably,  admission to the festival is free of charge. The event mainly to deliver a cultural experience that introduces Emirati audiences to European cultural and cinematic diversity. The film festival also aims to exchange expertise and knowledge in the field of cinema.

The European Film Festival is one of the global initiatives organized by the European Union in more than 90 countries around the world. “Cinema is one of the most influential mediums in modern society. Films help us see the world from different perspectives and learn about other cultures," said Lucie Berger, EU Ambassador to the UAE. Lucie Berger also hailed the constructive cooperation and fruitful partnership with the Cultural Foundation in Abu Dhabi.
