Studies show that people’s dependence on AI chatbots has increased significantly. For many, AI has become the first option for almost everything, even medical advice. While AI can be helpful, it’s important to set limits. Here are six things you should never rely on AI chatbots for.
1. Banking and financial details
Never share bank account numbers, credit card details, or social security numbers with AI chatbots. This information can be misused and may expose you to fraud or financial loss.
2. Passwords
Do not give AI chatbots your passwords or login details. If you wouldn’t say something aloud in public, don’t share it with an AI. Sharing such information can lead to serious problems.
3. Secrets and personal matters
Avoid sharing secrets or sensitive personal issues with AI chatbots. They are not human, and there is always a risk of information exposure. Treat AI as part of the wider internet.
4. Immediate safety decisions
In emergencies—such as a car malfunction while driving—do not rely on AI. Use your judgment and seek immediate help. AI chatbots are not first responders and may not assess urgency correctly.
5. Current affairs
AI chatbots are not always updated with the latest events. Do not depend on them for live information like breaking news, stock prices, fuel rates, or sports scores. Use trusted news sources or official announcements instead.
6. Medical information
ChatGPT is not a doctor. While it may provide general health information, diagnosis and treatment should always come from qualified medical professionals. Relying on AI for medical advice can be harmful.
