MANAMA, BAHRAIN: Amidst a successful 3rd General Assembly hosted in Bahrain, the Digital Cooperation Organization (DCO) has announced that the next General Assembly will take place in February 2025 in Jordan. Furthermore, it has been revealed that Kuwait will host the DCO General Assembly in the same year, showcasing their continued commitment to fostering digital cooperation.

Deemah AlYahya, the Secretary-General of the DCO, expressed deep appreciation to the Government of Bahrain and Mohamed bin Thamir Al Kaabi, Chairperson of the DCO, for their unwavering support. Emphasizing the importance of cooperation in addressing digital inequalities, she stated that the decisions made at the General Assembly would have a significant impact on more than 800 million people across the 16 Member States.

In a video intervention during the assembly, H.E. KONO Taro, the Minister for Digital Transformation in Japan, expressed Japan's interest in joining DCO activities and building a cooperation framework to foster expertise, knowledge, and experience sharing for digital transformation.

The DCO, founded in November 2020, is the world's first international intergovernmental organization focused on accelerating the growth of an inclusive and sustainable digital economy. Representing 16 countries, including the Kingdom of Bahrain, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia, the DCO aims to empower youth, women, and entrepreneurs, driving economic growth and social prosperity through innovation and digital transformation.

The DCO facilitates strategic dialogue and cooperation to establish optimal infrastructure and policies within Member States, enabling the creation of inclusive and equitable digital economies. Working in collaboration with governments, the private sector, international organizations, NGOs, and civil society, the DCO aims to promote inclusive digital transformation and the growth of the digital economy. Key initiatives include enhancing cross-border data flows, supporting SME market expansion, empowering digital entrepreneurs, and advancing digital inclusion, particularly among women, youth, and underrepresented populations.

With its vision centered on creating equal opportunities for nations, businesses, and individuals to prosper in the digital economy, the DCO continues to drive collaboration on a global scale. By bringing governments, the private sector, and civil society to the same table, the DCO stands as a shining beacon of hope for a future where no one is left behind.

The upcoming General Assembly in Jordan in 2025 and Kuwait's commitment to hosting the subsequent meeting demonstrate the DCO's dedication to promoting digital cooperation and bridging the global digital divide.
