Nilambur Bypoll: Hindu Mahasabha Supports CPI(M)
Swamy Dattatreya stated that a victory for the LDF was “crucial in the present times”
The Akhil Bharat Hindu Mahasabha on Tuesday has extended its support to Left Democratic Front (LDF) candidate M Swaraj in the upcoming Nilambur bye-election in Kerala. The announcement was made by Swamy Dattatreya Sai Swaroop Nath, the Kerala President of Akhila Bharath Hindu Mahasabha, during a press conference in Nilambur.
Swamy Dattatreya stated that a victory for the LDF was “crucial in the present times” and added that the Pinarayi Vijayan-led Kerala government is working for the development of the state. Meanwhile, soon after extending the support, Hindu Mahasabha also stated that they met CPM leaders. Swamy Dattatreya told MediaOne that they had held a meeting with senior CPM leader and politburo member A Vijayaraghavan recently.
He further stated that the Hindu Mahasabha has been backing the LDF since the last Lok Sabha elections and noted that they had earlier held talks with CPM state secretary M.V. Govindan. "We are extending our support to the LDF because it stands firmly against communalism,” Swamy Dattatreya added.
The bypoll was necessitated in Nilambur by the resignation of independent MLA PV Anvar. The election is set to take place on June 19, with the results to be announced on June 23.
