Oman Grants Grace Period For Professional Licences In Energy And Minerals Sector
The grace period runs until June 1, 2026
Oman’s Ministry of Labour has announced a grace period allowing workers and businesses in certain professions to rectify their professional licensing status. Since September 1, 2025, it has been mandatory for workers in certain energy and mineral sectors to have a professional licence in order to obtain or renew their work permits.
According to the ministry, the grace period runs until June 1, 2026, giving workers and businesses time to finalise their licensing paperwork. During this grace period, work permits can still be issued or renewed for both licensed and unlicensed workers. But from June 1, 2026, onwards, only those with a valid professional licence from the Sector Skills Unit will be eligible for new or renewed work permits in the licensed professions.
