Salman Khan Faces Legal Notice Over Misleading Pan Masala Advertisement
Kota Consumer Court has scheduled a hearing on November 27
Bollywood actor Salman Khan has received a legal notice from the consumer court in Kota for his role in an advertisement for a popular pan masala brand. The ad has been challenged as misleading in a complaint filed by BJP leader and Rajasthan High Court lawyer Inder Mohan Singh.
The complaint alleges that both the company manufacturing the pan masala and Salman Khan, as the brand ambassador, engaged in deceptive advertising. The advertisement highlights “saffron-infused cardamom” and “saffron-infused pan masala”. The petitioner questioned the authenticity of these claims, noting that saffron, which costs nearly Rs 4 lakh per kilogram, could not realistically be included in a product priced at just Rs 5. He also expressed concern that such ads might encourage young people to consume pan masala.
Notices have been served to Salman Khan and the manufacturing company, and the Kota Consumer Court has scheduled a hearing on November 27. Neither the actor nor the company has issued a statement so far.
