Iran-Israel Ceasefire Now In Effect, Says Trump
Trump asked both countries not to violate the ceasefire

US President Donald Trump said on Tuesday that a ceasefire between Israel and Iran is "now in effect". Trump asked both countries not to violate the ceasefire. Iranian and Israeli media also earlier reportedly said a ceasefire had begun. The announcement came hours after Iran launched missiles at Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar.
"THE CEASEFIRE IS NOW IN EFFECT. PLEASE DO NOT VIOLATE IT," said Trump in a post on his Truth Social platform. At the same time, Israel's military said six waves of missiles were launched by Iran, and Israel's national ambulance service said four people were killed in Beersheba, reported Reuters. Iran earlier stated that it would only stop its attacks if Israel did the same.
Iran said that the attack on the US base in Qatar was retaliation for recent American strikes against its three nuclear sites. Qatar’s Ministry of Defence said its air defence systems successfully intercepted the Iranian missiles targeting the base. Notably, the incident resulted in no deaths or injuries. According to an Al Jazeera report, Al Udeid is the largest military base of the US in the Middle East, housing approximately 10,000 US troops. The location serves as the forward headquarters for US Central Command.
