Saudi Arabia's Internet Penetration Rate Reaches 99%: CST Report

The Communications, Space, and Technology Commission (CST) has recently released the Saudi Internet Report 2023. The report reveals key insights and statistics on internet usage. As per the report, the growth of internet usage in Saudi Arabia reached 99% of the population. It is worth mentioning that the average mobile data consumption per person reached 44 GB monthly.

The Saudi Internet Report 2023 shows various indicators and data underscoring the users' behavior and internet usage during the last year. The CST report revealed that the peak hours of Internet usage are from 9pm to 11pm. Notably, Friday is the most used day for the internet during the week. Also, mobile phones are the most used devices for browsing the internet, accounting for 98.9% of usage compared to other devices. 

The Communications, Space, and Technology Commission mentioned that the report also included a study on online shopping behavior, which revealed that 93% of online shopping occurs on local websites compared to international ones. Nafath, Absher and Tawakkalna Services applications are the most downloaded e-government applications in 2023. Meanwhile, WhatsApp, Snapchat, and YouTube ranked top on the list of the most widely used social media applications in the country. The report was released on the sidelines of the Communications and Technology Indicators Forum 2024.
